Mission Statement

To rescue and care for abused, oppressed, and abandoned children within the context of family.

Needs Statement

This family group home exists to care for young girls, victims of trafficking and abuse, who are unable to return back home with their families. It is estimated that 20 to 65 million people are affected by commercial sexual exploitation in India today, and 80% of those are women. Victims of trafficking need specialized care and support by trained caregivers. Although Global Family attempts to return victims back to their families, sometimes reunification is not possible if the families are unable to care for their daughter or they were originally responsible for the exploitation.

Description

This family consists of 8 girls and a caregiver team. The girls that make up this family have all been cared for through our Delhi shelter, girls that were rescued by the police who had been victims of trafficking and abuse. Our Global Family team were able to care for and advocate upon their behalf in the court. Since these daughters do not have family or extended family to return to, the court asked us to provide longterm family care. And we did! Over 1 year ago, we established this family home so that these girls could return to life as daughters, not victims. They go to school, play, and experience all of the things that every child deserves.

Funds for this family include basic needs for the girls (food, clothing, education, medical), special outings, rent, and caregiver expenses for 1 year.
