Mission Statement

To promote child rights and protect children from trafficking and abuse.

Needs Statement

Many children in this community are not aware of their rights, and they have limited information about trafficking and exploitation. This community is in Nuwakot district, one of the highest source districts in Nepal for girl child trafficking. There are very limited intervention and prevention activities that are implemented, resulting in a lack of awareness and education surrounding trafficking.

Description

The Bajra Devi Primary School club serves 96 children who come from a socially excluded group of people. The club promotes awareness about trafficking in schools and communities. One of their most recent activities was trauma counseling after the earthquake that helped to connect children who were made more vulnerable to abuse and exploitation after the disaster. Previously, the children were scared of going to school, so the school teachers counseled them. Now, the children teach and encourage their peers!
